GB GENTS
Saturday, April 13, 2019
Share in this rare opportunity to see Greg Kennedy and Les Bloch (GB Gents) perform in an intimate setting, revealing their songwriting process in stripped-down acoustic form, featuring music from their debut album American Stories.
If words have meaning, then words combined with music touch your soul. Greg and Les have spent years together pursuing their goal, mining fresh words and music to express romantic love, teen confusion, suburban angst, existential philosophy and the unbreakable connection forged between humans.
Greg Kennedy, master guitarist and mentor to a thousand git boxers, delivers cascades of harmonic color and chunky funk grooves. Les Bloch, fresh from recording his eighteenth KQED Radio Perspectives, serves up words and melodies as deep and meaningful as the hypnotic groove of his cajon.
TENDER MERCIES

American Folk Rock at its FINEST!
Check out some of their music at http://tendermercies.bandcamp.com
Tender Mercies is a side project, of a sort, that includes two Counting Crows — Dan Vickrey on guitar and vocals and drummer Jim Bogios. The band’s origins actually go back 20 years, to the time when Vickrey first came to the San Francisco Bay Area. One of the first people he met was Patrick Winningham, who was the manager of the Hotel Utah, one of the best singer/songwriter venues in San Francisco. Winningham was also a songwriter and enlisted Vickrey, and bass player Kurt Stevenson, for the group that became Tender Mercies. In 1993, Vickrey joined the Counting Crows on second guitar. In the early days, the Crows augmented their set list with tunes written by Vickrey and Winningham. One of them, “Four White Stallions,” actually appeared on the Crows album New Amsterdam: Live at the Heineken Music Hall. When the Crows went on hiatus in 2010, Vickrey set up a bedroom studio, rounded up his old bandmates, and cut an album.
THE QUITTERS
Saturday, February 23, 2019
A quote from the Strawberry Music Festival: “Stevie Coyle and Glenn Houston make up the dynamic guitar duo, the Quitters. Having each quit some of the best bands in the business, both are late founding members of the Waybacks and each have performed at Strawberry in other configurations. Stevie Coyle has a long and illustrious career as an entertainer that began well before birth and Glenn Houston’s well decorated history in music is best known to berry heads for his founding role in powerhouse Americana quintet, Houston Jones. As individuals, both are renowned players in music circles. Now they have joined forces, to the delight of California audiences, to become a right-handed, right-side up fingerpicking and left-handed upside-down flatpicking twosome. Mostly acoustic. Some electric. Much serendipity.”

QUILES & CLOUD
Saturday, January 28, 2017
Several years of touring and spending nearly every day together allowed Quiles & Cloud to develop a unique sound – one that is characterized by soulful melodies, close harmonies, and interweaving guitar lines that owe as much to jazz and classical music as to folk and bluegrass. The addition of Oscar Westesson (upright bass) in 2013 pushed them even further as songwriters, resulting in darker, more complex, and more dissonant arrangements.
Their sound has struck a chord with audiences all over the country. Quiles & Cloud have now played hundreds of shows, won the 2014 FreshGrass Duo Award, and caught the attention of Grammy Award-winning banjo player Alison Brown – who produced their third album Shake Me Now, which comes out on Compass Records on March 17th, 2017. The trio will spend 2017 touring extensively in support of the new record.
