Taylor Guitars in the San Francisco Bay Area
If you are shopping for a Taylor guitar in the Bay Area, you already know the basics: Taylor builds some of the most playable, consistent acoustics on the market, and the lineup runs deep enough that picking the right one can feel overwhelming.
My latest Taylor acoustic guide walks you through what Taylor offers in 2026, from the brand-new Next Generation technology to the differences between body shapes and tonewoods, so you can walk into a shop knowing exactly what to look for. We happen to stock one of the largest Taylor selections in Northern California at our Danville showroom, including Custom Shop exclusives, Gold Label dreadnoughts, Legacy acoustics, and the T5z electric line, so we will use our own wall as the reference point.
We're located at 115 Town and Country Dr, Suite E, Danville, CA 94526. Call us at (925) 743-0898 or swing by. As an Authorized Taylor Dealer, every guitar we sell ships with the full Taylor lifetime warranty, a professional setup and inspection by our team, and free domestic shipping. Every Taylor on our wall is set up, in tune, and ready for you to play.

What Taylor's 2026 Next Generation Series Brings to the Table
Taylor announced its Next Generation series on January 8, 2026 just in time for the big 2026 NAMM Show, introducing three innovations across select Grand Auditorium models in the 300, 400, and 800 Series. These represent some of the biggest changes Taylor has made to its core lineup in years.
The Action Control Neck uses a long-tenon neck joint that adds warmth and depth to the guitar's voice. It also features a patented shimless design that lets you micro-adjust string height in seconds, without removing strings or the neck itself. For players who switch between fingerstyle and strumming, or who travel between climates, this kind of on-the-fly adjustability is a genuine problem-solver.
Scalloped V-Class bracing builds on Taylor's existing V-Class platform by introducing a scalloped brace profile. The result is a warmer low end and richer open-string resonance while preserving the pitch accuracy, sustain, and projection that V-Class is known for. Taylor's chief designer Andy Powers has described the sound as marrying the low-end response of traditional flattops with the strong midrange and top-end presence of V-Class.
The third piece is the Claria Pickup System, developed with input from touring artists and live sound engineers. It reimagines the under-saddle piezo pickup with soundhole-mounted Volume, Tone, and Mid-Contour controls. Players who have fought with harsh piezo tone on stage should pay attention to this one.
The flagship of the Next Generation lineup is the Next-Gen 814ce, pairing Indian rosewood back and sides with a Sitka spruce top, all three 2026 innovations, and a deluxe hardshell case at $3,999. The Builder's Edition 814ce steps up to an Adirondack spruce top with premium appointments like chamfered body edges, a beveled armrest, and Gotoh 510 tuners at $4,499. As an Authorized Taylor Dealer, Danville Music can order any current Taylor production model. Give us a call at (925) 743-0898 if you want to reserve a Next-Gen model.
Taylor Custom Shop and Catch Series Exclusives
This is where Danville Music stands apart from nearly every other guitar store in the region. We carry Taylor Custom Shop instruments built as one-of-a-kind pieces with hand-selected tonewoods, unique finishes, and appointments you will never see on a production model. Many of these are part of our Catch Series, exclusive custom builds created specifically for our shop.
The Taylor Custom GC 12-Fret AA Koa/AA Koa (Catch #40) features stunning figured koa throughout, with bloodwood binding and custom longhorn inlays on a short-scale 12-fret body. At $7,299, it is one of the finest Catch guitars we have brought in.

Our Taylor Custom 814ce Torrefied Spruce/Honduran Rosewood takes the legendary 814 platform and elevates it with a custom torrefied spruce top over Honduran rosewood back and sides at $6,371. Right next to it sits the Taylor Custom GA Builder's Edition in Chroma Algae, a one-of-a-kind build pairing torrefied spruce over Indian rosewood in a finish Taylor has never used on any other guitar, at $6,149.

The Taylor Custom GC "Harvester" Sinker Redwood/Bocote (Catch #31) pairs rare sinker redwood with exotic bocote back and sides at $5,999. Sinker redwood delivers bell-like clarity with a woody warmth that regular spruce cannot touch.

We also carry the Taylor Custom GP Grand Pacific Lutz Spruce/Rosewood (Catch #4) at $5,999, one of the few custom Grand Pacifics you will find anywhere, and the Taylor Custom GA Torrefied Sitka Spruce/Katalox (Catch #39) at $4,999, featuring the dense, rich-toned katalox wood that produces a sound somewhere between rosewood and ebony.
These guitars move quickly. If you see something in our Taylor collection that catches your eye, call us before making the drive. Inventory at this level turns over fast and individual pieces are irreplaceable once sold.
Gold Label and Legacy Series
Taylor's Gold Label collection targets players who want a vintage-flavored acoustic with modern construction. These square-shoulder dreadnoughts use Fanned V-Class bracing, which produces a traditional, woody punch with the sustain and intonation benefits of Taylor's V-Class architecture. The Gold Label line sits in a sweet spot for serious players who want all-solid-wood construction and premium tonewoods without crossing into custom shop pricing.
The crown of our Gold Label wall is the Taylor Gold Label K14ce in natural at $4,799. Hawaiian koa back and sides deliver a bright, focused midrange that opens up over time, and the K14ce showcases it beautifully in a Super Auditorium body with a torrefied spruce top.

For players who prefer rosewood's deeper low end, we stock the Taylor Gold Label 710e and the Taylor Gold Label 717e in sunburst, both Indian rosewood dreadnoughts at $2,999. The Taylor Gold Label 517e in sunburst rounds out the line as a mahogany-bodied dreadnought at $2,799, punchy and direct with a focused midrange that flatpickers love.
Our Legacy series instruments round out the mid-range of our Taylor wall. The Taylor Legacy 714ce at $3,499 is limited to only 250 pieces worldwide and features signatures from both Bob Taylor and Kurt Lustig on select sets.

Alongside it, the Taylor Legacy 514ce at $3,399 and the Taylor Legacy 815e round-shoulder dreadnought at $3,399 carry the refined build quality Taylor's 500 and 700 lines are known for. We also stock the Taylor 552ce 12-string at $3,599 for players looking for that shimmering, full-bodied 12-string sound.
Taylor T5z and Electric Models
Taylor's T5z is a hollow-body electric that covers a wide range of tones, from full acoustic warmth to snappy, driven electric sounds, all in a single instrument. It weighs less than a typical solid-body and plays like one, making it a strong option for gigging musicians who need versatility without hauling multiple guitars.
Our top T5z right now is the Taylor Custom T5z Figured Maple/Urban Ash (Catch #27) in Antique Blonde at $4,299. The figured maple top on this one has real depth, and the Sea Forest Vine inlay work is something you will not find through a standard Taylor custom order.

The Taylor T5z Classic Koa at $2,799 gives you beautiful koa top and back with the same T5z versatility, while the Taylor T5z Classic at $2,499 is the most accessible entry into the line.

Come try one through one of the amps in our showroom. We also carry the Taylor Circa 74 acoustic amplifier at $1,199, which pairs beautifully with any Taylor acoustic-electric. Browse our full Taylor electric selection to see what is currently in stock.
How to Choose the Right Taylor
Picking an acoustic guitar comes down to three factors: body shape, tonewood, and whether you need electronics.
Body shape drives both comfort and projection. Taylor's Grand Auditorium (GA) is the most versatile shape in their lineup, balanced enough for strumming and articulate enough for fingerpicking. The Grand Concert (GC) runs smaller and more intimate, favoring fingerstyle players or anyone who finds a full-size body uncomfortable. The Grand Pacific (GP) offers a rounder, warmer voice closer to a traditional dreadnought. And the dreadnought itself, featured in the Gold Label series, delivers the big, forward projection that flatpickers and singer-songwriters reach for.
Tonewood is where the personality lives. Indian rosewood back and sides give you deep lows and complex overtones. Hawaiian koa is bright and focused, with a midrange sparkle that opens up as the guitar ages. Mahogany is punchy and direct, strong in the midrange. Maple is clear and articulate, great for recording. On top, Sitka spruce handles everything well, while Adirondack spruce pushes harder with more dynamic headroom. Torrefied spruce adds the warmth and resonance of a played-in vintage guitar right from the start.
For electronics, Taylor's ES2 system comes standard on most production models and faithfully captures the guitar's acoustic voice. The new Claria system on 2026 Next Generation models takes amplified tone a step further with its Mid-Contour control and reduced piezo harshness. If you play live, try both side by side in our showroom and hear the difference for yourself.
Why Buy a Taylor at Danville Music
Buying an acoustic guitar online is a gamble. Two guitars of the exact same model can sound and feel noticeably different depending on the individual piece of wood, the setup, and a dozen small variables that don't show up in a product listing. When you walk into our showroom, you can sit down with several Taylors side by side and hear those differences for yourself. That is how you find your guitar.
Our staff are players who know the Taylor lineup. They can tell you which body shapes project more, which tonewoods suit your style, and which model fits your hands and your budget. Every Taylor you buy from us gets a professional setup and inspection before it leaves the store. And every instrument purchased from Danville Music comes with free adjustments for life.
We are also an authorized Taylor service center, handling setups, adjustments, restrings, and repairs. If you are looking to move on from a current guitar, ask us about trade-in and consignment options. Putting value from your current instrument toward an upgrade makes the math a lot easier. Our article on why investing more in a guitar can actually save you money breaks down the long-term economics.
